Bruce Potter visits Sunnybrae - Danika
This morning Bruce Potter visited Sunnybrae and he is going to visit us again as part of our Literacy Evening. He started his morning session by playing his guitar and singing “Penny the Prolific Pooing Cow”. I liked the stories he shared with us. My favourite story was The Remarkable Cake Shop. It’s very funny, especially when the Mayor took one of the white cakes that said “ Do not touch”. After he ate it the Mayor then started acting like a cat.
Bruce Potter also drew a doodle bug and a dragon on his tablet computer and I liked his drawing. I think Bruce Potter is a very clever artist.
Later back in class we were asked to draw our own doodle bug on a blank piece of paper. My made up doodle bug has eight legs like a spider, wings like butterfly, a ladybug body with black spots and a caterpillar bottom. I also drew pictures of an ice-cream, a netball player, a guitar, and a panda. I haven’t finished my sketch yet because I’m trying to fill up the whole page like Bruce Potter does. It takes a lot of time to do this!

My Sketches by Catherine
These are my sketches. I drew these at art class. The first thing I drew was the bird. When the teacher gave me the photo of a bird that she drew she asked me if can I draw this. At first I thought no way, but I had to try.

Move It Production - Thank You!
I just wanted to say a big THANK YOU to all those who helped with our Senior Syndicate Production of Move It. Your efforts have ensured that it was a successful and memorable experience!
The Final Show - Winnie
The Final Show!
I can't believe it is almost over! The singing, dancing, acting had finally finished. There was no more! Well that's what I believed...I still had tunes buzzing around in my head from our production called Move It!
Last night I felt I did better than Wednesday night. It went well. The crowd was clapping loudly and after the production I slept well after a good book (of course!) I think the choir did the best that night. I was proud of the choir (I was in the choir), I think we looked great. The dance group danced in time really well together.
I think the senior syndicate put on a great show. It was the first production with so many people on the stage dancing. I also really liked the songs they danced to. This was a great last production for me at Sunnybrae.
The next morning was very strange because we only had 11 people in our class as the rest had a sleep in! Lucky! I didn't sleep in because my parents had to go to work. Our hard work paid off in the end because the production nights turned out really well.

Science Roadshow Review By: Michael
“YAY! Were going to the Science Roadshow” I said. Today we are going on a trip to a Science Roadshow which is happening at Wairau Intermediate. I really hope they make it exciting for us! They said at first when we got there “Please get in the hall line by line” Shane said. We all did as instructed. We then sat down and listened to his exciting water show. After a couple of minutes we got to try out the experiments that they put out. We had some extras for experts cards and you had to answer 2 or more questions to enter the competition box. I answered all of them correctly and put my entry the box and waited…and hoped mine would get selected.
Later we went and sat down and listened to another show which was about electricity and was very interesting and my favourite show. We encountered a tesla invention which is big but not too big. It conducted electricity. We heard and watched the cool loud purple lighting that made different patterns like the ones you see in lightning photos but no thunder. Plus a unplugged lightbulb lit up from the electricity! Soon after that we had to leave. The next day we talked about our favourite parts of the Science Roadshow. My favourite part was the water gun spaying me and others around me. Next time I hope they have a hover car to show us, but the 3-D printer was pretty cool.

Science Roadshow
By Leo
It’s the Science Roadshow at Wairau Intermediate. It was held on Wednesday afternoon, and guess what it was AWESOME ! Now I’m going to tell you all about it!
The first experiment was the one which was a cup of warm water and ice. You put a cup of ice into the warm cup of water and they reviewed the world's water supply. One person was a giant, he was even much taller than Mr Gordon! Then after the experiments we got to stand up and test some experiments for ourselves. One of the experiment stations was the plazma ball and if you touched the plazma and the metal it gave you a little electric shock. Then the Science Roadshow came to an end. We went back to our buses and they drove back to school. It was so cool. I hope I can go again next year and that they bring back some of the experiments.

Sumdog NZ Challenge - Room 13 9th!
Sumdog Challenge Blog Entry
By Winnie
Wow! What a great result! Out of 82 classes all over New Zealand, our class came 9th overall. We were versing colleges, intermediates and primary schools.1451 students played Sumdog for the maths competition.
Out of all the 1451 students that played,1 person in our class got into the top 10 which was Jae Won. He was 5th but actually 4th equal! 2 people in our class came in the top 50 ( Me and Jae Won ). 8 people in our class came in the top 100. It was also impressive that Marco answered 1000 questions in one day.
I was ranked 24th which meant I got into the top 50. My favourite game in Sumdog is probably Dance because it has music with the game. The most challenging game for me is Junk Pile because sometimes the items you place fall down. Next time I would try get into the top 10.

Sunnybrae Field of Remembrance
Today we worked together to setup the Sunnybrae Field of Remembrance. We were pleased with how we worked together and they way students and parents enjoyed looking at it after we had finished. On Friday we are having an ANZAC ceremony and part of this will involved students and the wider community walking past this special Field of Remembrance.
